How to be a Morning Person

I use to always love being a night owl and just staying up late, hanging out watching TV just wasting time really. Until I got myself into a routine to become more of a morning person and be more productive.

So, without further ado, I’m going to share with you the well what I call Life-Changing Habits I used to become a morning person.

1. Go to bed earlier.
If you hope to wake up early and have a productive day, you’ll need to get plenty of sleep. That means going to bed early, even if you’re a night owl. Avoid electronic devices and caffeine in the late afternoon/evening and gradually move your bedtime up until you’re getting the recommended eight hours of sleep.

2. Set an alarm and actually wake up when it goes off.

Doesn’t matter how tired you are Don’t you dare hit snooze!. It makes you more tired.
Waking up at the same time every single day (including weekends, sorry no sleep in till noon 🙁) it makes it easier to wake up, stay awake, and get through your day.

Helpful tip Having a brightly lit room to wake up in makes it easier to get up and moving. This alarm clock does just that for you.

3. Drink a glass of water when you first wake up.
Alright, so I can’t really claim the credit on this tip, but come on it’s a little obvious isn’t it?
Your body goes 8 hours without water and craves it upon waking up.
Drinking a glass of water hydrates you, gives you an energy boost, also helps you eat less at breakfast.
Get in the habit of drinking a full glass before anything else. Your body will thank you for it.

4. Eat breakfast
Breakfast is an essential habit of being a morning person. This is one tip that took me a while to get into the habit, I would have a glass of water then coffee and I wouldn’t get hungry until lunch
Eating breakfast is the most important meal of the day. From experience not eating breakfast gave me headaches, I had trouble concentrating all morning.

5. Don’t use your phone.
Being on your phone first thing in the morning is the worst habit ever. I learned that the hard way.
You struggle to wake up because you’re laying there, scrolling on socials not getting out of bed right away.
You feel more tired because you didn’t have a definitive wake-up time.
Using your phone first thing in the morning also affects your mood and mindset for the day.’
Starting your day by scrolling starts your mind going, can give you feelings of envy, and not put you in the can-do mindset you need for the day.

Focus on waking up, getting ready for the day, and preparing your mindset to have a good, productive day.

6. Have a shower / Wash your face
Having a cold or even a lukewarm shower in the morning, or if you aren’t a “shower in the morning” type of person even just washing your face with cold water is great not only will it wake you up, your skin will cleanse and feel refreshed
