Valentines Day is coming up in a few days (14th February to be exact)

Here are a variety of unique and cute date ideas to help you create new memories with your partner whether it is for Valentines Day or your weekly date night or you haven’t had a date night in weeks, months or even years

Some of these date ideas are cheaper some of them are a little more expensive

1. Plan a Picnic
Whether you’re heading to a park or even just your backyard, put down a blanket, get a spread of delicious snacks you can make yourself, a bottle of wine or any beverage of your choice, and you’ve got yourself a lovely, low-cost date.

2. Take a Workout Class
Take a spin class, boxing, yoga classes all you need to is a quick google search and I’ sure you can find a workout class close by if not you can always do it at home
Couples that sweat together, stay together.

3. Visit a Museum and See Something Unexpected
Going to a museum is a great date idea. There so many things to see and do. You’ll never get bored and you’ll (hopefully) learn something new

4. Head on a (Mini) Road Trip
Pick a destination about an hour from where you live—it could be anything from a market to a restaurant to the middle of nowhere, just drive you’ll never know where you’ll find unless you explore.

5. Find a new Bar/Restaurant
In Melbourne alone, I honestly have no idea how many bars and restaurants there are in Melbourne, what a great way to find and discover new places

6. Make Homemade Pizzas with Wild Toppings
Instead of going out for some pizza why not buy ingredients that you need and make it at home, making pizza at home is cheaper and much more fun

7. Volunteer Together
You’re trying something new, you’re getting out there and meeting new people, learning a new skill and of course helping out people in need

8. Work on a DIY Project
Look through for a project, pick something easy or hard and get designing

9. Sing Karaoke
Are you brave enough to sing in public? Singing karaoke can be scary but so much fun

10. Sky Diving
Are you brave enough to go sky diving? Now this isn’t for everyone but if you are into

11. Paintball
Great date idea, if you love the outdoors and don’t mind getting a little dirty. Paintball is great if you and your partner are competitive

10. Learn to Dance
Find a dance studio that offer sessions for first timers and couples. Looking to do something really special? Consider booking a private lesson to start.

11. Go Camping
This is something that is definitely on my bucket list
Borrow equipment from a friend if you don’t have your own, roast marshmallows over a fire, put on a tent, tell ghost stories, unplug from technology. There are a lot camping areas
You can even do this in your backyard.

12. Recreate the First Date You Ever Had Together
If you went to a movie, rent the same movie. If you went out for dinner, go back to the same restaurant or make the dish that you ate at home.

13. Shark Diving

14. Take a Ride on a Ferris Wheel
There’s always something romantic about being on a Ferris Wheel with your partner, you’re alone together under the stars looking at the amazing view.

15. Rent Your “Dream Car”
Take your partner and your dream car you’ve rented on a weekend adventure, even if it’s just driving and exploring. Why not take a road trip like I mentioned earlier??

16. Go to the theatre and see a show
There’s something exciting watching a show in theatre

17. Go for a Hot Air Balloon Ride
A classic date that is hard for anyone to resist.

18. Bake a Cake
Or cupcakes, cakes, or cookies! Any activity that also involves eating makes for a great date.

19. Go to the Zoo
Stroll through the local zoo admiring everything from the tigers to penguins while getting to know each other.

20. Take a Hike
Be one with nature on your next date, taking a hike at your favourite nature preserve or hiking path.

21. Play Tourist
Pick a place you haven’t been before in your local town or city and see what they have to offer. I love doing this all the time, how many times I have googled ‘tourist places in Melbourne’ it’s amazing what you can find

22. Wake up at 4 a.m. and Watch the Sunrise Together
Not all great dates are at night. Get up early, curl up together, and watch the sunrise.

23. Go Bowling
Now I’m not good at bowling, I’ve lost count how many times I get a gutter bowl, but I always have so much fun. Bowling is definitely one of those fun activities you can do over and over again.

24. Binge Watch a Netflix/ Stan TV Show Together
Pick a show on Netflix that neither have you seen, and watch a few more episodes than you probably should.

25. Head to the Drive-In/ Open Air Cinema
Drive In Cinemas are a classic and a different alternative to the regular cinemas, they are cheaper, more relaxed and you can wear your PJ’s (bonus)
There aren’t too many cinemas around Melbourne (I think there’s only 3 left in Melbourne) but definitely look around your local area another alternative are pop up open air cinema they are becoming more and more popular especially during the Summer

26. Head to a Free Outdoor Concert
A great way to spend a summer afternoon, seek out a free outdoor concert, theres always great food, people and of course great music

27. Go Ice Skating
What I live about Ice Skating is that you can go anytime of the year right now It’s Summer but I love to skate, I always fall over but that’s just half fun

28. Go to the Beach
Head to the beach for a day of laying out in the sun, relaxation, and getting to know someone. Don’t forget your sunscreen

50. Do Something Neither of you Have Done Before
Sometimes the best dates involve doing something that neither of you have done before—taking taking a class in painting, cooking, drawing, photography classes, it doesn’t even have be a class it can be anything

51. Make a personalised scavenger hunt for each other
I think this so much fun. It’s doesn’t have to cost too much, you can do this at home, at a local park or even at the mall

52. Go to a Trivia Night
Everything’s easier when you’re on a team grab a bunch of friends and make it a group date or you can join a team and meet new people hey you might even win a prize. Most pubs usually have a weekly or monthly trivia nights

53. See a Comedy Show
In need of a good laugh? See your favourite comedian or find someone who is up-and-coming

54. Indoor Trampoline
Bounce is indoor trampoline centre, all you do bounce. Most indoor trampoline centres/parks offer a variety of trampolining activities from wall-to-wall trampolines, to foam pits, to dodge ball trampolines.

55. Icebar Melbourne
It’s the coolest places around (see what I did there?) Grab a drink if your date or make it a group date for a an hour or so…

56. Rock Climbing
Take your relationship to new heights as you scale the walls, Built trust as one person climbs while the other belays (holds the rope) so it’s not really ideal as a first date unless you really know each other.

57. Mini Golf
Ahh Mini Gold is definitely an oldie but a goodie, such a classic date idea, whether you or your partner find golf sooo boring (like myself) there’s something about a miniature course that appeals to the kid in everyone!

Mini Golf is definitely a great first date idea its the perfect way to break the ice and have fun together. The game provides a great distraction as a topic of conversation, while its competitive element may make the date much more interesting! You’ll be sure to spend the majority of the time laughing together as your golf balls bounce off walls and into other groups’ holes and you may even have the opportunity to heat things up with a swinging lesson or two.
